"Walk two moons"

😊Internal and external conflicts😊

In the book, "walk two moons" by Sharon creech, the main character, Sal goes through many internal and external conflicts. For example, one external conflict is how Sal cant stand Margret. She feels like Margret is going to replace her beloved mother. Phoebe dose exactly help this situation by convincing Sal that Margret is a  murderer. She warns Sal to stay away and tell her father to not date her. However Sal also faces internal conflicts, Such as when Phoebe mistreated her mom. she yells at her mom because she is "babying" her to much. waiting at the door for her to come home with brownies or freshly baked cookies. Sal is extremely irritated by this because she would do anything to have a mother again, so seeing how phoebe takes it for granted is considerably annoying.

Internal Conflicts

There are many Internal and external conflicts throughout the book Out Of My Mind. Mrs. Valicity has conflicts with taking care of Melody's sister, Penny. This conflict is considered external because Mrs. V has troubles with Penny and not herself. Melody has a conflict with in herself (internal) because she wishes she had the ability to speak and express her emotions. Melody also has troubles with her good friend Rose because Rose has a hard time understanding what Melody is trying to say (external). An external conflict is that Claire and Molly are insecure enough to pick on Melody about Melody's computer that helps her talk. Melody was upset when Penny was distracting her mom when Melody was trying to convince her to buy the computer that expresses her emotions (external). Melody was embarrassed for Rose because she was with Melody's family in a public place (internal). Melody's mom has a hard time handling the fact that Melody can now talk using her computer (internal). These are all internal and external conflicts that are with in the book.

internal and external feelings, out of my mind

Some internal thoughts that Melody experienced were how, since Melody cannot express her feelings because she cannot talk, she said she is upset because she can't write or read properly.
Melody also experiences, the fact that she is so smart yet she cannot let people know because she cannot communicate with them. Melody cannot share her answers to the class or teacher even if she know them, it frustrates her, not being able to do anything with her voice and smarts.  A external conflict that Melody has is when Melody takes the test. After she takes the test and the teacher announces she got everything right, instead of accepting the fact that Melody got a better score than her, Claire starts to complain about how she thinks that Catherine helped her on the test, and that Melody is very dumb. Melody can't do anything about it, but she feels very bad. To add on to that, at the end of the class the teacher says that if Melody got it right, everyone should be getting it right. Another external conflict Melody has is when all of the children from classroom H - 5 came into the music room, Claire and Molly, two of the meanest children decided to imitate the disabled kids, like Melody. They said stuff like " oh i'm retarded". They also laughed and let drool dribble down their chins as saying "duh duh bu bu". as a consequence they got their chairs taken away and they had to stand up for a full period through the whole week.

The internal conflict in our book out of my mind is Melody getting frustrated by not being able to talk walk or do anything else.  Melody can never express her feelings which really upset her she can never say what the answer is.  Melody does not feel like a normal girl she has to get fed at the age of 11 needs help going to the bathroom and needs help transporting places.  She needs a board to say things but her board does not always say the words she wants to say.  Like if she wants to say pretty dress she either has to say something different or she has to point.  She also gets frustrated because she is learning things that are way to easy for her like the abc and she cant tell her teacher that.  The external conflict in our book is these two girls Molly and Claire bullying her and making fun of her and Melody gets very upset by this.  Melody has a very strong relationship with a girl named Rose she is obsessed with her and always wants to pick out her best outfit for her.  Melody is worried that one day she will do something stupid and Rose will not want to be her friend anymore.
